1. Complete your Profile

Sign up, upload your required documents and verify your email and phone number. You will be immediately sent an email with your username and password, so if you cannot upload your documents all at once, that's OK; come back later to finish.

You'll be asked to upload:

- passport

- teaching certificate (if you have one)

- any degrees you have in your tutor skill

- a police background check (check our FAQs page if you don't know how to obtain this)

Not a teacher? No problem. Tutor&Travel has a simple training program that participants can join in order to learn how to tutor in an at-home, casual setting. For more details on the program, please visit our training page. During sign up, if you select that you do not have a teaching certification, you will be automatically emailed details on the training program.

2. Memberships

After filling out your profile, you'll be directed to our package page. There, you will choose which packet best suits your needs. 

There is a basic package, that simply allows you to use the system for 6 months, or there is a premium packet that covers you for medical / accidents while travelling. If you don't have your own travel medical insurance, this may be a good one to choose.  

Once you select your membership type, and purchase, you'll be granted access to our pool of host families looking for tutors like you!

3. Choose Location

Browse the list or select a specific country to see available stays. You'll be able to see all active Host listings where families are looking for a tutor like you! If you need some inspiration, check out our blog page or our Instagram to follow tutors traveling the world with Tutor&Travel.

Make sure you have / can easily get a visa to travel to your selected country. Tutor & Travel does not deal with visas. Most countries allow certain nationalities to travel visa free, or with an e-visa you obtain instantly online. This information can easily be found on google. 

4. Apply to Listings

Select any/all listings you wish that fit into your available travel days. It's as easy as a click. Some families list specific dates, meaning you don't have the option for flexibility there. Other families will select an acceptable range, over a month or two. In these cases, you'll be able to offer your dates to them by selecting a certain number of weeks within their given range.

You can filter results by country but also by amenities available in the home.

Allergic to dogs? No problem! Filter that out. Need a private bathroom? Just select it.

5. Confirm your Trip!

Once you and a host family match up, you'll be informed via email and your profile messages. You will now have access to the email address of the host family. Book your transport and log that info into your confirmed stays page so the host family will have access to your flight/train information. All you do now is pack! The host family is responsible for collecting you from the airport, and bringing you to their home.

6. How am I Protected?

We go the distance to make sure you are safe and secure. 

From our Premium memberships including travel insurance to our safe buttons upon arrival, you can travel safely with Tutor&Travel. 

Your information is never made public. Only your chosen screen name and basic details are avaiable on your profile for potential host families to see. We don't even give them access to your email address until you are confirmed on a trip. 

Once you arrive in the new city, and are greeting by your host family, you will have to login to your profile and click a button to let us know you are safe. If you do not click this button, we will active our protocals to locate you and ensure you're safe. 

7. What do I get?

Besides the chance to travel and have new adventures?  We may have a few extras for you... 

Each host family is different. Some go above and beyond but all have to provide some certain things to their tutors. 

1. Free accomodation for the entire stay, in a private (not shared) room

2. Breakfast every day 

3. Airport / Train station pick up and drop off at the home 

4. Assistance and advice on getting around the city and the best things to see! 

5. WIFI (of course)

Tutor&Travel provides tutors with: 

1. The peace of mind of knowing someone is looking out for you in your travels. We do this with our "safe" button and our open communication paths so you can get in touch when you need to. 

2. For stays 3 weeks or longer, tutors are given FREE activities in the host city. These can range from hot air ballooon rides to cruises, or fancy dinners to theatre shows. 

Our hosts are real families, who need and are appreciative of your help to reach their goals. We bring tutors to them because they often can't travel abroad or attend pricey programs to get this imperative practice.
